I love Quentin’s movies but,I wonder if anyone but me realizes that he might have a bit of a fetish for womens’ feet? In all but one or two films you will find shots/close-ups of womans’ feet. At rest or in action you find that Quentin dedicates a few long moments to his love of the female foot. He even writes dialog in his films in honor of them. He even acts out his fantasies in some films, who could forget his sucking Selma Hayek toes in Dusk Till Dawn. I was just wondering if anyone but me noticed. T. smegma

This was an informative, concisely-written and utterly enjoyable article to read. I’m writing a director study on Tarantino for a film analysis class, and i will definitely be sharing the link to your blog with my teacher and fellow students. Your insights, descriptions and examples of his shooting techniques were great as was your style of writing: amiable, engaging, pleasant, intelligent, and entertaining all at the same time. the chart of character types was also an excellent touch.

Very nice article. I’m a big fan of Tarantino (who isnt??) and I really enjoyed reading. Beside his amazing use of camera and visual story telling, Tarantino is a master when it comes to writing dialogue.

Tarantino uses the phenomena of long takes like none other.

Well I’d start with Tartovsky, Ozu, Hsiao-hsien Hou and then move on to another 200 directors who have more facility with the long shot than L’il Quentin.

Your notes about Death Proof are correct in hindsight. It certainly doesn’t fit into the plot table you outlined.

Finally got to finish that one. I am a huge Tarantino-fan and it was great to read about how he shoots.
